WWSCC 2014 - Ladies' Day March 15th
Torque Steerers with co-sponsors NWR-SCCA and ACE, are hosting a Ladies Day on Saturday March 15th at Emerald Downs in Auburn! This event is a great opportunity for women in our region to experience autox in a low pressure environment and get some seat time. Gals - this day is for you - it's an opportunity for you to come out and play in your cars. If you've ever wanted to try autox but haven't wanted to do it at a race event - this is the perfect opportunity. It's not a race, it's just a practice. Women with any level of autox experience are welcome to come and drive at this event. The guys will work the course for you and there will be female instructors on hand for those who are new to the sport or want to go for ride-alongs. Guys - if you have women in your life that are interested in cars, want to learn how to drive better and faster, or just want to have a great time in their cars this is a great opportunity for them. It's also a great opportunity for you to show your support for the women in our region because we need volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering to work at this event please contact Tasha (tasha56races@gmail.com) or Annie (annieraces@gmail.com). Volunteers will be able to run during the lunch break and again at the end of the day. Pre-Registration: · Gals - please pre-register online - (pre-registration closes on Friday 3/14 at 6pm - pre-reg is not required, just helpful). You can change or cancel your registration until Friday at 6pm. Onsite Check-In/Registration: 8:00-8:45am · Payment is made at the event – cash or checks only. · Cost - $50 for the entire day, Women only - this includes a weekend membership to Torque Steerers (TS); if you are a current member of a sponsor club (TS/SCCA/ACE) your entry is $45 · Volunteers - please check in at registration to get a work assignment and if you want to run at lunch or the end of the day (no fees will be collected from you but you must have a valid driver's license). Tech Inspection: 8:05-8:50am · All cars that will be running must go through the safety tech inspection. · Before going to the tech inspection area, remove all loose objects from your car, the driver's side floor mat must be secure or removed. · Please review the tech requirements listed here to avoid surprises on site. · We recommend putting some extra air in your tires (5-7lbs. above stock) to prevent excessive sidewall rollover Driver's Meeting: 9:10am · Everyone must attend the driver's meeting unless they have been excused by the event chairs. What you should bring: · Your valid driver's license (volunteers too, if you want to drive) · Entry fees (cash or checks accepted) · A Snell rated helmet 2000 or newer—Loaner helmets are available. WWSCC UpdateThe rules change proposals for 2014 have been finalized and are available for review here (also from the "2014 Rules Proposal" link at the left): http://www.wwscc.org/rules/WWChangeProposals2014.pdf Voting will take place at the February Council meeting, if all clubs have had a chance to determine their votes by then. Our friends and meeting hosts Bogart's on Airport Way are closing, so starting in January we'll be meeting somewhere else (TBD). Watch this space and the nw-autox list for updates. NWRSCCA Solo is in the same boat. We're looking for a low-cost or no-cost meeting room at a restaurant, somewhere centrally located since we have folks coming from both north and south. Suggestions welcome. Don't forget to register for the Coneheads part and awards banquet, held at Fare Start in Seattle. You can do that (deadline is January 3rd) here: http://scorekeeper.wwscc.org/coneheads.php What's Happening in WWSCC1. A collection of rules change proposals was discussed and approved at the Open Meeting. Details will be coming soon so you can review these proposals and discuss them with your Council member club. Changes to WWSCC ScheduleThe tentative ACE event scheduled for 9/21 has been cancelled, but NWDE’s Clothing Optional event will still take place on Sunday, 9/22 at Sanderson Field in Shelton. This is now event #9 in the 2013 Championship Series, so the Stock groups will run in the morning and non-Stock will run in the afternoon (specifics will be updated later). Also don’t forget the UWFSAE DawtoberFast event, Sunday October 20th, also at Shelton. This will be the last Championship event for the 2013 season. The UW team did a fantastic job this year, winning the overall competition at Lincoln and taking 7th overall in Germany (out of over 100 teams). The events the conduct with us help raise funds for their efforts. They plan to offer the Rent-A-Student option again for this event. BEAC Enduro Coming Up August 3rd - Now with tentative run orderBEAC will be conducting Event #8 in the 2013 WWSCC Championship Series, the Enduro, on Saturday August 3rd at Shelton. Non-Stock groups will run in the morning, Stock will run in the afternoon. Novice and Time-only groups will be available in both halves of the day and will be distributed as needed to balance run/work group sizes. Enduro is a unique event, where you take a practice lap and then go right into 3 consecutive laps at speed, each of which counts as a competition run. It’s a chance to see what it’s like to drive hard for 3-4 continuous minutes instead of less than one. It’s a different and exciting kind of challenge that requires you to be sure you get plenty of walk-throughs to know the course route. Tentative Run groups listed below, could change if needed for evening out the groups sizes.
