WWSCC Events Coming up in May and JuneMay brings us the UWFSAE Dawg Dash (Championship event #3) at Sanderson Field, and the crew at the U has more experience this year and couple of key autocrosser Chiefs (Timing and Course) to make sure their event runs smoothly. This is one of the fund raisers for the FSAE team, which was victorious last year at the Lincoln, NE competition and placed very highly at the world competition as well. See http://www.uwashingtonfsae.com/ for info about the team. June features the NWDE Clothing Optional Championship event #4, also at Shelton. Course for this one will be done by BEAC's James Rollo, who has brought us some fun and interesting content out on the pavement. NWDE is the local Datsun/Nissan club, a natural group for drivers of both vintage Datsuns and current impressive cars such as the 350/370Z and its stealth sibling the G35/37, as well as the mighty GTR and various fun sedans like the Altima . See more about NWDE at www.nwde.org Detailed information about these events will be posted as the dates become closer. Dietz takes tight PRO1 victory at SCSKevin Dietz took a hotly-contested PRO1 class victory at Sunday's Sports Car Spectacular, under drying conditions in which competitors were happy to get that 5th run. Kevin edged out Dieter Beldi for the win, with Karl Coleman taking 3rd in his developing and comparatively new BRZ. Top Time went to Jim Daniels in the Prepared Miata, with close scratch times (with a cone) being posted by Frederick Pascual in the very fast ground-pounding Mustang. The last heat of the day had the best conditions, with a clean dry track and ever-improving stick. Workers of the day had to be Enrique Garcia, who barely got to run while shepherding a cranky timing system that took a couple of hits over the weekend, and Brianne Green (with help from Sean), who covered a variety of positions including Registration, Workers, and Waivers. Next WWSCC Event is May 18th at Shelton, we hope to see you there. Coneheads Test N Tune, Sports Car Spectacular April 19/20The next WWSCC events will be the Coneheads Test N Tune on Saturday and the Sports Car Spectacular Championship Series Event #2 on Sunday, the weekend of April 19-20 at Shelton. The Saturday April 19th Coneheads Test N Tune will have a single Registration period in the morning; the event will consist of morning runs on either or both (driver's choice) of two element sections--one sweeper-focused, the other with slaloms and lane changes. There is an entry limit of 50, to help maximize driving time for those who enter, and because of this limit the entrants must pre-pay to reserve their spot. Drivers will be split into groups at the morning Drivers' Meeting; everyone who drives will also work. There will be a separate Grid in the morning half for each of the element sections; drivers may choose either, switch back and forth, and may run as many times as they can during their assigned run period. There will be a break at midday to connect the element sections into a full course, and the groups will run again. Entry fee is $35. Registration and Tech will be 8:00-9:00, Drivers' Meeting will be at 9:30, and runs will begin at 10 am. The Sports Car Spectacular Championship event on Sunday April 20th will be #2 in the WWSCC Championship Series, sponsored by Jim's Detail Shops and co-sponsored by Garth Vadar Motorsports. Morning Registration and Tech will be 8am-9am, afternoon will be 11:45-12:45. Entry fee is $25 pre-registered, $30 on-site. As you might expect, the location is close to the race horse stables at the Emerald Downs track. The horses do not respond well to loud noises, especially excessive tire squealing noise. To ensure the safety of the race horses, Emerald Downs reserves the right to shut down the event at any time, and without any prior warning, if the horses become alarmed or get spooked by our activity at the site. The safety of the horses (in addition to the safety all participants) at the facility is our primary concern. |
