Sim Has Quickest Indexed Time at Enduro LiteJoey Sim, running ST3 on an STX index, won his class and posted the best indexed time at BEAC's Enduro Lite on Sunday August 24th. Sim's win in ST3 came at the expense of Geoff Clark, who was in the familiar but not quite as strong Taco Time car for this event. Steven Hui in the M3 rounded out the trophies in 3rd. Another strong performer was Bill Zerr, driving the Focus this time, taking Pro1 with narrow margin over Dieter Beldi. Zerr's margin over Beldi in the season points standings is currently at about half a point out of 400. Glen Hernandez, who missed Enduro Lite due to being out of town for a Corvette gathering, is a close 3rd for the season, with Kevin Dietz right behind. Joe Burroughs took Novice AM in a Miata, and William Fanchier topped Novice PM in a VW GTI. The HHR crew was out again, with many of their guys running Novice and Joshua Herget taking a 2nd place trophy. HHR "pack leader" Dave Lawniczak had to fall back to a buddy's car when his malfunctioned, and ran Time Only. Once again at the end of the day, the HHR horde demonstrated the cone hauling capabilities of their cars. Perhaps only the memorable William Batts cop car has been able to fetch more cones in a single load. Full results are available here: http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2014/wwscc-11.html Next WWSCC events are Torque Steerers' Understeer and Oversteer at Packwood September 27-28, and don't forget DawgtoberFast at Shelton on October 19th. The run/work order season schedule for the Council is here: http://www.wwscc.org/checklists-a-instructions/190-runwork-order-cycle-for-2014.html New BEAC Enduro Format to Debut 8/24BEAC is trying a twist on the traditional Enduro format this year. Instead of leaving the Start once, getting one practice lap and then four consecutive individually-timed laps, you'll leave the Start twice, each time getting one practice lap and two consecutive individually-timed laps. So it's like two mini-Enduros. This is being tried to help address some of the concerns about the Enduro format, primarily that you only really get one chance to think about the course in detail before you drive. With the "Enduro Lite" concept you get two chances, each of which consists of a practice lap and two separately-timed consecutive laps. The total number of counted laps will be four; you'll actually get to go around the course six total times. This is event #6 in the WWSCC 2014 Championship Series. Entry fee is $25 pre-registered, $30 on-site. You can pre-register using the link at the left or here: http://scorekeeper.wwscc.org/register/ww2014. Deadline for pre-registration is 11:59 p.m. Friday 8/22. Run/work groups are per the 2014 schedule, which is here and for this event it looks like this: AM: NON-STOCK Run 1, Work 2: IA, IB, IC, WM, WP, OS, ST2, WST3, PRO2, TOAM Run 2, Work 1: WIA, WIB, WIC, MA, MB, PA, PB, PC, WOS, WST2, ST3, WPRO2, TOAM, WNOVAM, NOVAM

Close Races Get Closer at AutopilotBill Zerr took his second PRO1 class win in a row, and the overall battle in that class between Dieter Beldi and Glen Hernandez tightened to a margin of less than 0.6 points out of 500. Watch out for Kevin Dietz, though; he's missed a couple of events but his 3-event total of 298.166 makes him a likely contender as the season progresses. In some of the Stock classes, Scott Dixon has firm control of SA; Kurt Rehm leads Gene Baker in SB; Rick Smale is 4-for-4 in SE. All three were winners at Autopilot. ST2 and ST3 have good races going, with Nick Ruiz presently on top of ST2 (but Greg Lee has won the last two events he showed up for). ST3 shows Geoff Clark winning when he makes it out (with Dan Podhola not far behind), but the current season points leaders are Russ Hill and Larry Carnahan. An interesting battle of Miata vs. Neon ACR. A fun treat at this event was the attendance of five enthusiastic Chevy HHR drivers, led by Dave Lawniczak's now-familiar (and mean looking) dark blue 2009 version. Sam Dai came on top of the group who ran in NovPM, and Seth Butkey showed the versatility of his black (with purple flames!) HHR by helping bring most of the course cones back to the equipment truck when the event was over.
